Welcome to Expedition Pink Ribbons website. I am so excited that you stopped by to learn more about our mission! There is one sentence that has gone on repeat in my head ever since I started thinking about doing an expedition on Greenland.
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”
C.S Lewis
When I got breast cancer at the age of 40, I never anticipated the reaction I would get after treatment. I felt completely lost. My self-worth and self-esteem were at a low point, and I knew I had to make changes in my life to improve my mental health as well as my physical health.
Taking responsibility for your own health is not an easy task, but it is an important task.
The Expedition Pink Ribbon team wants to encourage women and men around the world to stay physical active as a preventative measure against health-related issues. 30 minutes activity every day is in fact what the government advise. 30 minutes! We can do it!
In 2020, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 685.000 deaths globally.
685.000 mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, friends, partners lost their battle against cancer.
Expedition Pink Ribbon is determined to do what they can to improve those numbers. We want to teach women and men around the world to do self-exams. Early detection is of outmost importance when it comes to treating breast cancer.
The objective of the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) is to reduce global breast cancer mortality by 2.5% per year, thereby averting 2.5 million breast cancer deaths globally between 2020 and 2040. Reducing global breast cancer mortality by 2.5% per year would avert 25% of breast cancer deaths by 2030 and 40% by 2040 among women under 70 years of age. The three pillars toward achieving these objectives are: health promotion for early detection; timely diagnosis; and comprehensive breast cancer management.
Our goal is to fund 365 000 USD for breast cancer research.
One of the reason the team is capable of doing this mission, is because they have received the latest and best treatment for their specific type of breast cancer, thanks to research. That’s why it is so important for us to make sure that this journey in improving treatment and perhaps in the future create a vaccine that prevents breast cancer all together, continues.
